# Krell: the envelope chooses the next event

Each completed envelope samples a new voltage that changes both the next note and its duration. The same envelope opens the voice amplitude.

## Start here

Lower the monitoring level before patching. These are documented patch designs, not claims of hardware audition.

Unless this recipe uses the right Mix Pro for control voltage: center its DC offset, zero unused channels, and bring up only the cabled audio inputs. Connect Audio Interface MIX OUT to your normal monitoring chain.

1. GTO left Stepped: cycle off, SMPL up, RATE fast. Left Mix Pro: zero offset, channel 1 low, unused channels zero.
2. GTS upper: short but audible rise, fall around 1–3 seconds; FALL CV attenuverter initially centered. Slowly add a little negative depth for longer higher notes.
3. NTO: low-mid pitch. XFADER: fully toward input 1, manual GAIN closed; raise VC GAIN depth until the GTS envelope makes separate swells.

## Listen for

Unequal gaps and durations tied to changing pitches. There is no independent master clock and no promise of a tonal scale.

## Play it

Change the sign of FALL CV depth to reverse the relationship between pitch and duration.

## If it misbehaves

If a note hangs, reduce duration modulation and speed FALL. If the drone never closes, reduce XFADER manual GAIN.
