# GTO audio-rate sampling
GTO Stepped samples NTO audio at a separate clock rate, creating rate-dependent aliases.
## Start here
Lower the monitoring level before patching. These are documented patch designs, not claims of hardware audition.
Unless this recipe uses the right Mix Pro for control voltage: center its DC offset, zero unused channels, and bring up only the cabled audio inputs. Connect Audio Interface MIX OUT to your normal monitoring chain.
1. NTO: around 100–200 Hz. GTO left Stepped: cycle off, SMPL up, RATE fully fast.
2. GTS upper: start around 1 kHz, with a reasonably symmetric cycle; keep the sample clock below about 2 kHz.
## Cables
1. GTS XL upper END OUT → GTS XL upper TRIG IN.
2. GTS XL upper END OUT → Dual GTO left Stepped SMPL.
3. NTO SINE → Dual GTO left Stepped IN.
4. Dual GTO left Stepped OUT → Edelweiss right Mix Pro IN 1.
5. Edelweiss right Mix Pro OUT → Audio Interface AUX IN.
## Listen for
Rough stepped audio with new pitches and beating that move as the sample rate changes.
## Play it
Sweep the clock downward through the NTO frequency while holding the NTO pitch still.
## If it misbehaves
A flat output at very high clock rates can be the GTO sample-window limit; slow the clock.
